Ballet Folklorico El Tapatio and De San Dieguito(BFETdeSD) are two Mexican traditional dance ensembles. BF El Tapatio was created in 2000 and formally established in 2008 at Bayside Community Center in Linda Vista. BF De San Dieguito was established in 2014 and is a non-profit program of Encinitas Friends of the Arts, funded in part by the City of Encinitas Arts Division and Mizel Family Foundation Community Grant Program.

Their mission is to inspire each member of the group to diligently work in order to develop his/her talent of dance, therefore becoming a genuine dancer; a dancer that projects passion, precision, and grace during performances, but at the same time, a dancer that projects love and proudness for the Mexican Folklore. As a result, they have a joyful and colorful experience during performances to the delight of themselves and that of the audience.

Ballet Folklorico El Tapatio de San Dieguito is comprised of dancers ages six to thirty-four years old from all around San Diego County. In addition to teaching the Mexican Folklorico Dance, the program instills discipline, professionalism, and enthusiasm in the dancers while teaching self-esteem, leadership, and life skills to empower them in their future endeavors.

BFETdeSD has had a growing presence in San Diego County. Performances include Liberty Station Parade Band Festival, Global Winter Wonderland, SDG&E, Art & Wellness Festivals, SD Children's Discovery Museum, Oceanside Museum, Film Festival Award Ceremony, Youth Arts Festival, Heartbeat of Mexico (Orange County), The San Diego County fair, World Baseball Classic at Petco Park, Old Town, SD Airport SD, Encinitas Holiday parade, San Dieguito Heritage Museum, Musco Center for the Arts, Chicano Park, San Diego Public Library, One SD Neighborhood Mayor Faulconer alongside Mariachi Real De San Diego, Travis Manion Foundation at Midway Museum, SPAWAR Systems Center Pacific, as a special guest on KUSI and Fox Five TV News segments, among others.

What distinguishes Ballet Folklorico El Tapatio and De San Dieguito is that it does not just develop the dancer, it develops the person, the child, the individual, and their parents. It instills confidence, leadership, and a strong work ethic in the youth. It develops camaraderie and teamwork among the dancers. It develops commitment and hands-on-involvement from the parents to support the group. Ballet Folklorico El Tapatio de San Dieguito is more than a dance class; the program develops the positive qualities and characteristics of tomorrow’s leaders in our communities.
